Turf Replacement

Greetings ABASA Players

ABASA and ABYSA have been working hard to inform players and families about the turf replacement project at the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex (JBL). The soccer complex is a critical asset in allowing us to provide the health and social benefits of adult soccer to over 3,000 players each year, and the eleven-year-old turf has aged beyond its useful life! ABASA players are aware of this, more than anyone, as they spend many hours playing the sport they love at JBL every season!  The ABASA Board of Directors has endorsed the recommendations of the engineering consultant firm LDD Sports to replace the artificial turf this May.

Last Monday an important public meeting was held to shed more light on the project and the recommendations of the engineering consultant (LDD Sports). The safety of our players and transparency in the position taken by the ABASA Board of Directors are our top priorities. Many of you were there at the Orange Peel last Monday and have a deeper understanding of what the consulting firm is recommending and why.  Many of you were unable to attend. If you were unable to attend, please take a moment to review the highlights of the meeting at the following link and voice your support for our position. http://abysa.org/turf-replacement . It should only take you a few minutes to review the summary. There is more detailed information and many links to literature about the safety of the recommended products for those that want to read deeper into the subject matter. And as always, we are happy to answer any questions you might have or find the answer for you. Do not hesitate to contact us!

We would appreciate support of the decision to move forward with the design and product recommendations of the LDD Sports Consultants for the John B. Lewis Turf Replacement Project, please join us in signing our petition here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/JBL-plan
